Head Men’s JV Basketball Coach

Part-time position responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Men’s JV Basketball program, including coaching, recruiting, practice planning, competition scheduling, fundraising, budgetary management, strength and conditioning, and academic monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement all aspects of the recruiting process, including identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes, engaging in communication with prospects, parents, coaches, and advisors, and attracting potential student-athletes to Manhattanville University.
  • Assist the Head Varsity Coach with identifying roster makeup and direct all aspects of coaching during practice and games.
  • Enhance the development of student-athletes' basketball skills through team practice and individual instruction.
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are followed by all student-athletes and work with athletics trainers and physicians to implement team wellness and conditioning programs.
  • Understand and comply with current NCAA, Skyline Conference, and Manhattanville Compliance Policy and Procedures, maintaining consistent communication with compliance staff and athletic administrators.
  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes and coordinate the program's fundraising activities alongside the Varsity team’s goals.
  • Schedule all JV contests and perform other additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Current knowledge of rules and policies of the NCAA Division III.
  • Intercollegiate coaching and playing experience.
  • Recruiting experience at a collegiate level.
  • CPR/AED Certified.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel required for competitions and recruiting.
  • Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alumni.
  • Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Ability to perform basketball-related physical tasks, such as demonstrating drills and moving equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic court maintenance and game-day supervision duties, which may include lifting items over 50 pounds.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is $7,500.

Schedule

Part-time, 29 hours or less per week.
