HEAD GUARD

About the role

Performs the duties of the lifeguard and pool manager.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and discipline all persons using deep or shallow water pool facilities.
• Work under direct supervision of Pool Manager.
• Manage pool instructional and special event programs and customer service.
• Manage memberships and revenue collection process.
• Administer pool operations and supervise staff.
• Implement American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR/AED certifications.
• Coordinate multiple assignments, organize tasks, analyze situations, and communicate effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Wear Department of Recreation staff swimwear.
• Attend training sessions and maintain certifications.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and respond to issues.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of good customer service principles, water safety, and pool maintenance.
• General administrative and management principles.
• Effective scanning, zone coverage, and organizational skills.
• Ability to implement American Red Cross skills and communicate clearly.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Identify and respond to issues and concerns.
