Stipend range: $2,700 - $3,224 (DOE)

About the Role

Reports to the Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principal. The Head Coach advises, coordinates, and supports the sport staff while instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to foster individual and team success. The role also emphasizes the development of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence among student-athletes.

The position involves extended time commitments, risk management, and adherence to due process protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce all athletic policies approved by the high school administration.
  • Ensure compliance with state, regional, and AIA/NFHS regulations, interpreting them for staff and athletes.
  • Maintain discipline, address grievances, and foster morale and cooperation.
  • Develop, organize, and supervise practices and competitions, prioritizing ethical participation, safety, and rule adherence.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling, transportation, and logistics for tournaments and special events.
  • Prepare facilities and equipment for scheduled sporting events or practices.
  • Recommend policy changes to the Athletic Director as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or principal.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Teacher Certification or Substitute Certificate (employment as a teacher at Catalina Foothills School District is preferred).
  • Ability to organize and supervise a comprehensive sports program.
  • Substantial knowledge of tennis technical aspects, with a commitment to staying updated on new theories and procedures.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card without restrictions.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive a district vehicle (small van) to matches and serve as the supervising adult.
