Orting High School, a member of the 2A SPSL, is seeking applicants for the Head Girls Cross Country Coach position.
About the role
The coach will lead the Orting High School girls cross country program, ensuring excellence in all co-curricular aspects while meeting W.I.A.A. requirements for Washington State Coaching Standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cross country techniques and strategies.
- Communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Organize and support a competitive high school cross country program.
- Motivate teenage athletes to reach their highest potential academically and through sportsmanship.
- Complete required Vector Solutions (SafeSchools) trainings within thirty (30) days of hire.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Current first aid and CPR training (or ability to obtain prior to the start of the season from an approved OSD provider).
- Flexible schedule with availability immediately after school (2:15 PM M-Th, 12:45 PM F).
- Experience preferred in coaching or participating in cross country.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Ability to work successfully with teenage athletes.
Schedule
- Work Year: 2026-27 High School Fall Season (08/24/2026 - 11/01/2026).
- Work Start: Immediately after school dismissal (2:15 PM M-Th, 12:45 PM F).
Pay
Salary follows the 2025-26 OXA Extra Curricular Salary Schedule Appendix A, paid at the 2026-27 rate.
Benefits
Eligibility for benefits depends on hours worked during the last two school years (September 1 through August 31). Coaching positions may not qualify for benefits.
- For regular employees in coaching positions anticipated to work 630+ hours/year: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability, and employee assistance program.
