The Head Coach for the Girls Intermediate Tennis team will inspire, motivate, encourage, and develop each student athlete while teaching techniques, rules, and strategies. The Head Coach will also teach and model sportsmanship, and develop a team system based on the unique ability of each student athlete.

Responsibilities

  • Teach techniques, rules, and strategies of tennis.
  • Inspire and motivate student athletes.
  • Develop a team system based on the unique abilities of each student athlete.
  • Model and teach sportsmanship.
  • Create and implement comprehensive practice plans, offensive and defensive schemes, and off-season expectations for student athletes.
  • Apply effective and contemporary teaching/coaching practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Two (2) years of experience and a track record of leadership in a successful interscholastic program as a head coach, or other significant leadership experience in building and maintaining a successful large school program, or other professional-related or athletic-related experience.
  • Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents.
  • Knowledge of the value of athletics and competition at the intermediate and high school level.
  • Substantial knowledge of tennis as demonstrated through coaching experience.
  • Physical ability to demonstrate positions usual to the sport.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Positive and effective track record of coaching performance.

Schedule

Winter Season, 2026-2027 school year (3 months). Work hours are Monday–Friday late afternoons and weekends.

Pay

Stipend range: $1,920 – $6,990. Compensation is based on qualifications, relevant training and experience, and internal equity. Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay.
