Head Coach (Girls) - Basketball - West - 26-27 SY

About the role

The Head Girls' Basketball Coach will oversee the entire West Girls' Basketball Program and instruct the varsity high school girls' basketball team. They are responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the court.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training of basketball players in conjunction with the other coaches
• Develop training plans for basketball players in conjunction with the other coaches
• Aid in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games/events as directed by the Athletic Director
• Attend and coach at all practices
• Attend and coach at all games
• Absorb and enforce team policies
• Provide student-athletes feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior, and team skills
• Manage program budget and organize fundraising efforts for the basketball program
• Cook off-season training and conditioning for the basketball program
• Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Athletic Director
• Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches
• Complete the required WIAA Rules Exam for basketball by the 2026-2027 winter sports season

Requirements

• Knowledge of instructional techniques for basketball
• Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization
• If no teaching license, successful completion of an approved coach’s education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching
• Demonstrated ability to successfully coach in a diverse population
• Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to design and implement a developmentally appropriate program for students in basketball
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise athletic teams with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, and safety

Qualifications

• Competitive experience in basketball at the high school level
• Previous coaching experience with preference for those with prior basketball experience
• Demonstrated ability to successfully implement basketball systems in a high school setting
• Successful completion of the required WIAA Rules Exam for basketball by the 2026-2027 winter sports season

Skills

• Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury
• Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment
• Ability to perform work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including in inclement weather, spaces without air conditioning, and areas where temperatures may be uncomfortable or fluctuate rapidly

Minimum Compensation: $3,534.00

Schedule

Will be expected to work evenings and weekends. May also be expected to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
