Head Coach - Boys Basketball - 8th, Chaparral Middle (ATH-489)

Athletic coaching position for the 2026-27 school year at Chaparral Middle School, Alamogordo, NM.

About the Role

To help each student achieve the highest level of skill they are capable of while developing self-discipline, good sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Responsibilities

• Teach and refine basketball skills for 8th-grade boys.
• Foster self-discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem in student-athletes.
• Adhere to all rules and regulations of the sport and the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA).
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with students, staff, and parents.
• Work a flexible schedule, including practices, games, and related events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current New Mexico Instructor's License preferred.
• Have or be able to attain an NMAA coaching certification.
• Working knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.
• Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
• Upon offer of employment, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty.
• Satisfactory completion of all background, criminal, and reference investigations.

Pay

As set out by increment or temporary coaching contract.
