About the role

The Head Cashier at Sprouts Farmers Market supervises a team of cashiers and assists with operational issues to ensure excellent customer service. This role involves proactively supporting cashiers and courtesy clerks, addressing customer assistance issues at registers, and maintaining store standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide direction/support to cashiers and courtesy clerks.
• Assist with potential customer assistance issues at the register.
• Assign store sweeps, monitor and maintain cash register supply levels, and uphold cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
• Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
• Schedule and oversee proper execution of meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
• Assist in hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for cashiers.
• Operate front-end equipment such as registers, calculators, and scanners.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude; ability to interact with customers and serve as a role model.
• Strong communication skills; ability to take direction, provide constructive criticism, and work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform repetitious activities, multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized.
• Physical ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 30 lbs. horizontally/vertically from 36” to 24” for distances up to 3 feet for up to 50 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Ability to move grocery carts horizontally requiring a force up to 35 lbs. for distances up to 4 feet for up to 50 hours.
• Strong attention to detail and proficiency with numbers; cash handling and mathematical skills; ability to read, write, and count.
