About the Role
This position is responsible for all aspects of organizing, directing, planning, and coaching the high school boys lacrosse program. The Head Coach will develop student-athletes in skill development, strategies, and techniques to prepare them for competition, including creating daily lesson plans and setting clear goals and objectives to help athletes reach their potential.
The coach will work directly with the Activities Office for logistics such as transportation, ordering supplies, uniforms, and scheduling. Additionally, the coach will motivate student-athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport and help prepare them for life through the Why We Play program offered by the MSHSL.
Responsibilities
- Organize, direct, and plan all aspects of the high school boys lacrosse program.
- Coach student-athletes in skill development, strategies, and techniques for competition.
- Develop daily lesson plans and set clear goals/vision for student-athletes.
- Work with the Activities Office for transportation, ordering supplies, uniforms, and scheduling.
- Motivate student-athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport and life skills through the Why We Play program.
- Engage with the youth program by offering camps/clinics and attending youth board meetings to represent the philosophy, mission, and vision of the high school program.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of lacrosse.
- Must meet MN Statute 3512.3100 for varsity head coaches, including:
- Verification of completion of six quarter credits (or equivalent) or 60 clock hours of instruction in first aid and the care and prevention of athletic injuries.
- Verification of completion of a coaching methods or theory course, or the ability to take the MSHSL Head Coaches Certification Course when offered.
- Complete MSHSL coaching education requirements.
Pay
Salary Range: $4,229–$5,287.
