HDD Operator/Locator

About the role

DIGCO, a Quanta Services Inc (NYSE:PWR) company, is seeking an experienced HDD Operator / Locator to support underground gas utility construction projects. This role is responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and/or locating drilling paths to support underground utility installation activities. The HDD Operator / Locator plays a critical role in ensuring bores are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications and utility requirements.

What You'll Do

• Operate HDD equipment and/or locate drilling operations for underground utility installation projects
• Read and interpret utility locates, bore plans, and jobsite layouts
• Monitor bore path alignment and communicate with crews to maintain safe drilling operations
• Support drilling fluid management, tooling setup, and equipment maintenance activities
• Conduct daily inspections of drilling and locating equipment and report maintenance needs
• Assist with potholing, utility verification, and jobsite preparation activities
• Follow all company and client safety procedures related to excavation and directional drilling operations
• Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
• Perform additional duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

• Experience operating HDD equipment and/or utility locating systems in underground utility construction
• Understanding of underground utility locating, bore path tracking, and excavation safety practices
• Ability to read utility maps, bore plans, and construction drawings
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in active construction environments
• Ability to work safely around underground utilities and energized infrastructure
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Gas utility, pipeline, or underground construction experience preferred
• Bilingual / Spanish-speaking abilities are a plus
