Hawaii Culture & Language Teacher- Papa Hawaii

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement dynamic curriculum for our Hawaiian Culture and Language courses with a focus on <ōlelo Hawaiʻi> (Language Basics), (Early History & Environment), (Core Values & Agreements), and (Arts & Instruments).
• May Day Support
• Employ innovative instructional strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity, fosters collaboration, and encourages mutual respect.
• Integrate IPA's core values into daily instruction, emphasizing kindness, generosity, growth mindset, excellence, and ingenuity.
• Achieve student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to support continuous growth and development.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance student learning and engagement.
• Participate in professional development activities to refine teaching practice and stay updated with best practices in education.
• Maintain open and proactive communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success and well-being.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Olelo (Hawaiian Language), Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian culture or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid teaching credential or certification
• Previous teaching experience at the secondary level, preferably in Hawaiian Studies, language and culture
• Demonstrated commitment to IPA's vision, mission, and core values
• Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional methodologies, and assessment strategies
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Flexible, adaptable, and growth-oriented mindset
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
