Responsibilities
- Develop and implement dynamic curriculum for our Hawaiian Culture and Language courses with a focus on <ōlelo Hawaiʻi> (Language Basics), (Early History & Environment), (Core Values & Agreements), and (Arts & Instruments).
- May Day Support
- Employ innovative instructional strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking, creativity, and inquiry.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity, fosters collaboration, and encourages mutual respect.
- Integrate IPA's core values into daily instruction, emphasizing kindness, generosity, growth mindset, excellence, and ingenuity.
- Achieve student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to support continuous growth and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance student learning and engagement.
- Participate in professional development activities to refine teaching practice and stay updated with best practices in education.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure student success and well-being.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Olelo (Hawaiian Language), Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian culture or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid teaching credential or certification
- Previous teaching experience at the secondary level, preferably in Hawaiian Studies, language and culture
- Demonstrated commitment to IPA's vision, mission, and core values
- Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional methodologies, and assessment strategies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and growth-oriented mindset
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
