About the Role
This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating off-highway trucks to transport crushed stone, sand and gravel, and other materials within quarries, pits, yards, and/or plants. The Off-Road Haul Truck Driver will operate rigid frame and/or articulated haul trucks of varying sizes, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials while adhering to all company and government rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate off-road trucks to transport crushed stone, sand, and gravel.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of truck controls and functions, including air brakes, emergency procedures, and safe operating practices.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns.
- Perform basic maintenance checks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, functionality, and tire pressure.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Wash haul trucks using high-pressure hoses, steam cleaners, or pressure washers to facilitate thorough inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of materials hauled and locations of dumps.
- Complete necessary paperwork and inspection records.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE and following MSHA/OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a safe driving record and high level of situational awareness to prevent accidents.
- Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Typically less than 2 years of experience operating off-road trucks in a commercial setting.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Proven experience operating off-road equipment.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in various conditions.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with others and manage time effectively.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods, withstand vibrations, and operate controls with precision.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must have the ability to climb ladders while maintaining three points of contact.
