The Hatchery Lead position is responsible for assisting with daily operations of the hatchery and leading all production and technical aspects within the department.
Responsibilities
- Take a proactive role in immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Assist with training employees, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance.
- Work in conjunction with maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation to coordinate projects and handle opportunities as they arise.
- Perform tasks as designated by the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with team members both individually and within a group setting.
- Serve as the back-up for the QA Supervisor position, ensuring safe, quality products are produced.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and perform all physical tasks necessary to complete the job successfully.
Requirements
- High school education preferred but not necessary.
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a hatchery preferred but not required.
- Ability to speak English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
