About the Role

The Harvest Lead provides guidance and specialized skills support to Harvest Specialists while overseeing daily harvest operations within a cannabis cultivation facility. This role supports harvest and post-harvest plant processing and may involve cross-training to assist other departments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to incoming and current Harvest Specialists by demonstrating best practices.
  • Offload, harvest, clean, and reload flower rooms.
  • Help Harvest Specialists understand and follow departmental processes.
  • Assist with new hire training under the direction of the Assistant Harvest and Harvest Manager.
  • Weigh, record, and label post-harvest materials.
  • Ensure plants are hung in designated dry rooms.
  • Manage, document, and destroy cultivation waste.
  • Transfer properly dried plant material to trim and production teams.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control measures in compliance with state and local laws.
  • Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
  • Report any system or process discrepancies to the Harvest Manager immediately.
  • Visually inspect plants for diseases, insects, and mold, and report concerns for remediation.
  • Document all activity using the company’s track and trace system.
  • Work within the company’s continuous improvement system to increase productivity.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize harvest equipment, tools, work areas, machines, containers, and dry rooms.
  • Support additional cultivation, harvest, and production teams as needed to meet facility goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Able to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Previous experience harvesting produce or cannabis in an agricultural or cannabis cultivation facility.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment safely.
  • Comfortable working with heights, soil, water, and tight spaces.
  • Ability to safely climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and stand for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to register with the state’s cannabis commission as an agent.
  • Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the cannabis industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a regulated production facility (e.g., food, beverage, CPG).
  • Basic knowledge of plant structure and horticulture.

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Frequently required to remain stationary, move, and position oneself.
  • Must occasionally move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand for 90% of the workday.
  • Comfortable working at heights, including ascending/descending ladders up to 25 feet.
  • Comfortable working atop and traversing scaffolding when required.
  • Comfortable with varying environment temperatures and humidity.
  • Exposure to pollen, dust, dander, and other natural elements.
  • Requires close observation and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a warehouse environment with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate.
