Harm Reduction Specialist
About the role
The Harm Reduction Specialist is a critical team member within Lantern's Integrated Services Programming, providing person-centered support to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use challenges, and chronic medical conditions, including HIV/AIDS, within a supportive housing environment. This role focuses on promoting health, stability, and recovery through harm reduction strategies, substance use education, and linkage to services.
Responsibilities
- Workshop and Group Development and Facilitation
- Individual Tenant Engagement
- Community Partner Collaboration and Resource Tables
- Documentation, Administration, and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Requirements
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social work, public health, psychology, or a related field. A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a supportive housing environment, is preferred. Knowledge of harm reduction practices, substance use education, and ability to support individuals in making informed decisions are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong interpersonal skills are also required.

- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use challenges, and chronic medical conditions, including HIV/AIDS.
- Knowledge of harm reduction practices, substance use education, and ability to support individuals in making informed decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary service team.

Pay
$45,000 - $50,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Lantern staff may be asked to adjust their work schedule depending on the operational needs of the site and the agency.
