About the role
Leidos has an opening for a Hardware Technician to support mission-critical operations in a dynamic and high-tempo environment located at Vandenberg SFB, CA. This role is primarily focused on hands-on hardware and systems support, while also contributing to launch communications planning, coordination, and execution activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for mission-critical IT hardware systems, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computing and communications equipment.
- Support enterprise voice and communications systems, including VoIP phone systems, Mission Critical Conferencing Systems (MCCS), telephone instruments, voicemail systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of hardware and communications systems through proactive maintenance and rapid incident response.
- Perform system diagnostics and resolve hardware issues or escalate as required to restore service.
- Maintain accurate documentation of hardware configurations, system layouts, rack elevations, cabling, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Collaborate with engineering and launch teams to support planning and execution of launch communications requirements.
- Aid in defining technical requirements and ensuring systems are properly configured to support launch activities.
- Support development of project plans, schedules, and timelines related to hardware readiness and deployment.
- Track tasks, action items, and system readiness milestones to ensure timely delivery of capabilities.
- Participate in technical meetings, working groups, and integrated product teams to coordinate hardware and communications support.
- Assist with testing, rehearsals, and validation of communications systems prior to launch events.
- Contribute to technical documentation, status reporting, and post-launch lessons learned.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree)
- Current DoD 8570 certification (e.g., Security+)
- Experience supporting mission-critical IT hardware and communications systems
- Knowledge of VoIP systems, telecommunications infrastructure, and associated hardware
- Experience with configuration management, change management, and system documentation
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes operational environment
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and operational teams
- Willingness to provide on-call or call-in support as required
