About the role
AccuWeather is seeking a Hardware Intern to support the Hardware Manager in building, programming, and deploying sensors for the AccuLightning Network™ (ALN) – one of the world's only global lightning detection networks. The Hardware Intern will also help support the expansion of AccuWeather’s growing portfolio of subscription-based weather and alerting hardware products. Meteorology background isn't required, but is a plus for someone drawn to the Weather Enterprise. - May be asked to assist with outreach and onboarding of new sensor hosts during deployment
- Support the Hardware Manager on day-to-day hardware operations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in engineering, or equivalent technical knowledge and work experience; no meteorology background required (a plus if you have it)
- Comfort with electronics and hands-on device configuration
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
- Familiarity with soldering
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and an eagerness to learn
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
