About the role
The role involves designing and executing hardware validation and qualification tests for sensing and compute hardware platforms. Responsibilities include building, debugging, and maintaining test setups, developing test plans, and collaborating with suppliers and engineering partners.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute component- and system-level hardware validation and qualification tests for sensing and compute hardware platforms
- Build, debug, and maintain test setups including harnesses, load simulators, custom fixtures, and supporting test infrastructure
- Develop test plans, block diagrams, bills of materials (BoMs), and structured validation procedures
- Utilize oscilloscopes, environmental chambers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and related equipment to characterize hardware performance
- Develop Python-based automation scripts and tooling to support testing, diagnostics, and data collection activities
- Collaborate with suppliers, procurement teams, and engineering partners to support hardware development and test infrastructure initiatives
- Document test results and present findings through design reviews, test readiness reviews, and data review activities
- Support documentation reviews related to engineering standards, risk assessments, and design releases
- Partner cross-functionally with hardware, systems, integration, and supplier teams to troubleshoot issues and improve validation methodologies
- Travel within the Bay Area as needed to support hardware testing and development activities
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 4+ years of professional engineering experience
- 2+ years of hands-on electronics or hardware development experience
- Experience testing electronic, automotive, aerospace, robotics, or vehicle-related hardware systems
- Strong hands-on laboratory experience using oscilloscopes, environmental chambers, VNAs, TDRs, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and related test equipment
- Python programming experience supporting automation, diagnostics, or validation activities
- Familiarity working within Ubuntu/Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams
- Ability to travel within the Bay Area as needed
Bonus Qualifications
- A master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with Altium, CATIA, or 3DEXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, MDIO, PCIe, or related protocols
- Foundational knowledge of networking concepts, systems architecture, memory hierarchy, storage systems, or LAN technologies
- Familiarity with Ethernet switching chipsets such as Broadcom or Marvell
- Experience with simulation tools such as Ansys
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems including Keysight or UEI platforms
- Experience with Polarion, Jira, Confluence, or similar engineering workflow tools
- Participation in technical competitions or engineering programs such as SAE, FIRST, or DARPA initiatives
