About the role
Lockheed Martin's Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure team is seeking a Level 2 Hardware Engineer with an active Secret clearance to work from our Boulder, CO, location. In this role, you will work closely with software, security, and mission engineers to deliver ultra-reliable and scalable ground systems that enable continuous infrared surveillance and missile-warning capabilities for legacy and next-gen satellite constellations. SBIRS and the Next-Gen GEO OPIR ground stations form the backbone of the United States’ missile-warning architecture.
Responsibilities
- Conduct or participate in the research, design, development, and testing of COTS or custom computing hardware and/or other electrical components.
- Develop designs for the installation of components and assemblies into chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, customer facilities, and/or shelters.
- Plan, direct, review, and coordinate preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements are met.
- Prepare specifications, evaluate vendors, and analyze test reports.
Requirements
- Previous Hardware Engineering experience in mechanical/electrical design.
- Knowledgeable in Hardware Engineering processes and tools.
- Active Secret Security Clearance required for consideration; ability to obtain/maintain SCI also required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Hardware Engineering).
- Emerging professional (Level 2) role: typically requires 1+ year of experience and a BS degree.

Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $147,300.00. The salary range is a general guideline and considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market considerations.
Schedule
- For non-represented full-time employees in Washington state: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
- For represented full-time employees: accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
- PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
