Hardware Design Engineer

About the role

Cleared2Hire is recruiting a Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of platforms that combine high‑speed networking, powerful compute, and FPGA resources in Austin, TX. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer and team leader to influence product direction and own development from architecture through production.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full hardware development lifecycle, from initial architecture to production release.
• Manage and mentor hardware, mechanical, and ECAD engineers.
• Drive PCB design decisions involving high‑speed signal integrity, stackups, materials, and EMC compliance.
• Collaborate with product management, RTL, software, compliance, and manufacturing teams.
• Help manage OEM relationships and support component and subsystem qualification.
• Improve manufacturing yields and resolve sustaining engineering challenges.
• Shape architecture and roadmap decisions for future platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and bringing computer networking equipment to production.
• Strong people management and team development skills.
• Expertise in high‑speed signal integrity, PCB stackups, and materials selection.
• Experience with EMC design and resolving compliance issues.
• Background working with high‑performance processors, embedded platforms, and FPGA‑based hardware.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines.

Additional qualifications

• FPGA RTL coordination or hardware co‑design.
• OEM vendor management and manufacturing yield optimization.
• Compliance testing experience, including FCC, CE, or UL.
• Experience with network TAPs, packet brokers, or network visibility appliances.
