Hardware Design Engineer
We are seeking a highly proficient Hardware Design Engineer to join our innovative, close-knit product development group. You will be instrumental in creating next-generation Raman, spectroscopy, and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) solutions. Work alongside leading researchers to revolutionize fields such as healthcare, security, food security, environmental monitoring, and materials development & processing.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain PCB schematics using Altium and generate orderable packages.
- Utilize SPICE and other simulation tools to validate circuit performance before production.
- Lead internal multi-disciplinary reviews to resolve electro-mechanical issues.
- Oversee the bring-up of new boards, including power and timing validation.
- Analyze signal timing and waveforms using oscilloscopes and other lab instruments.
- Collaborate with firmware and FPGA engineers on pin assignment and configuration.
- Work with PCB layout engineers on component placement and routing review.
- Support regulatory testing for standards such as IEC EMC and emissions, and FCC Part 15/18 emissions.
- Recommend components and connectors to meet operational product requirements.
- Assist manufacturing with electrical issues in product assembly and customer RMAs.
- Contribute to other aspects of company development as needed.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience with Altium or comparable PCB design tool.
- Proficiency in digital and mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and similar laboratory tools.
- Experience with revision-control systems such as Git, BitBucket, and Allspice.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with soldering, board inspection, and rework.
- Familiarity with firmware or scripting tools such as Python.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Work Environment
The position is on-site in Morrisville, North Carolina (Raleigh/Durham’s Research Triangle). Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Pay
The pay range for this position is $130,000.00 - $170,000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
