Hardware Compliance Lab Technician Apprentice
Role and Responsibilities
IBM has a world-class Hardware Compliance engineering team located in Rochester, MN that supports product testing from nearly every IBM hardware product. Hardware Compliance has responsibility for ensuring that IBM’s products comply with regulations in every country where IBM operates. Key areas of focus include Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Product Safety, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Stewardship.
- Perform physical tasks such as cleaning and organizing the test lab.
- Assist with testing using equipment like oscilloscopes and temperature gauges.
- Support IT administration of complex computer systems.
Requirements
This apprentice position is expected to perform physical duties as well as technical duties. The technician will work at the direction of others supporting various needs for keeping the lab operational.
Qualifications
To be successful, you need drive and eagerness to learn, the ability to work independently and in an organized manner, strong collaboration skills, and some basic knowledge or experience in electrical engineering sciences such as Electrical Safety, Electron Theory, AC/DC Basics, Wires and Cables, Computer Electronics, and Electrical Testing Equipment.
Skills
The ideal candidate should have some experience with data analysis or working in a team-oriented environment. Basic knowledge or experience in soldering and de-soldering, electrical safety, electron theory, AC/DC basics, wires and cables, computer electronics, and electrical testing equipment is preferred.
