About the Role

Operate soldering equipment such as solder wave, vapor degreaser machine, selective solder, air vac lead free and leaded solder pots, SRT rework station, and special parts preparation equipment. Solder, clean, rework, and fabricate parts, components, and subassemblies using scopes, basic hand tools, and special devices for the production of components and assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Select flux, add flux, clean equipment, and maintain and follow preventive maintenance (PM) schedules; identify when maintenance is needed for wave solder pallets.
  • Set up wave height, width, and conveyor speed on wave solder equipment.
  • Set up and follow all guidelines and PMs for selective soldering machines to ensure quality product production on a timely basis per print and routings.
  • Review routings against prints to ensure consistency; verify correct programs and revisions are called out on routers.
  • Perform periodic hand soldering under a scope for solder touch-up and product review of solder joints.
  • Use basic hand tools, special fasteners, soldering iron, and measuring devices; measure and record product data as required.
  • Train in surface mount equipment and monitor floor stock inventory such as solder paste and flux; inform Supervisor or Lead when low.
  • Prepare wire by cutting, stripping, twisting, tinning, and soldering or fastening wires, cables, resistors, capacitors, and other parts to PWBs, connectors, and assemblies.
  • Clean parts and hand-placed components during production processes.
  • Fabricate and inspect to J STD 001 and IPC-610 standards.
  • Perform job duties in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, AS 9100: rev. D, Nadcap Accreditation, and NASA-STD-8739 requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints and work with scopes in a manufacturing setting.
  • Solder experience in a manufacturing setting, including hand soldering and machine soldering on solder equipment.
  • Must pass J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Certification to qualify for job duties.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • High school education or equivalent.

Physical Demands

  • Repetitive hand motion when performing hand soldering; hand soldering performed in a sitting position.
  • Machine soldering functions may require standing, twisting, and stooping.
  • Work with and around chemicals.
  • Visual exams required pre-hire and biennially to confirm 20/20 visual acuity (with or without glasses) and pass a standard color vision exam.
  • Ability to perform job functions while using a scope.

This position involves the release of export-controlled goods. Celestica will require necessary information to determine if any export control exemptions or licenses must be filed upon acceptance of employment.
