About the role

We're Payy—building the future of global consumer banking on crypto rails. Think Revolut, Venmo, or CashApp, but global, fast, and self-custodial. Our app is written in React Native, with all core logic in Rust compiled into TypeScript. We also built Payy Network, a decentralized ZK rollup for payments. There’s plenty of challenging and impactful work ahead!

Traits we value

• A hacker mindset—you can build almost anything
• Experience launching your own product or founding a company in a technical role
• Strong development experience building from zero to one, ideally in Rust (though we’ll consider other languages if you’re a proven quick learner):
  • You know what high-quality Rust code looks like and how to write it
  • You understand how to architect Rust code effectively
  • You have experience working in large and complex Rust codebases
• Ability to use AI to accelerate learning and development
• Leadership in feature development—from architecture design to release
• Willingness to work end-to-end (mostly Rust, with some React frontend)
• Speed with strong attention to detail
• Understanding of key web3 primitives (wallets, cryptographic concepts like public key, asymmetric/symmetric encryption)
• A product mindset—you care deeply about user experience and how your code impacts users
• Passion for solving hard problems and working on meaningful challenges
• Autonomy-driven—you thrive with minimal oversight (we have only one meeting a week)
• Desire to be part of decision-making and contribute your own ideas
• Interest in joining early to maximize equity and upside
• Proactive—you’ve read the Polybase whitepaper and downloaded our app
