Habilitation Specialist, Home and Community
About the role
UCP Central PA is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism. The positions are available in various schedules, including full-time (30+ hours per week, varied hours between 900 am - 100 pm or 100 pm- 700 pm, occasional weekends as needed) and part-time (less than 20 hours per week, three days per week, varied hours between 900 am - 100 pm, occasional weekends as needed).
Responsibilities
- Utilize your own reliable vehicle to support individuals during appointments, work, and community outings.
- Encourage choice-making and everyday decision-making for individuals.
- Engage in recreational, social, and life-enrichment activities such as volunteering, meal preparation, fitness activities, swimming, relationship building, and developing everyday life skills.
- Develop and carry out individualized plans based on each person’s preferences, needs, and interests.
- Teach and support daily living skills, including personal care, hygiene, cooking, and light housekeeping.
- Communicate effectively to build trusting relationships and support social and community connections.
- Aid individuals in exploring employment interests and participating in work and community activities.
Requirements
- Willingness to use personal vehicle for transporting individuals in the community.
- 6 months to 2 years of previous job-related experience expected.
- Previous Personal Care Aide, Caregiver, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or Direct Care Worker experience preferred.
- Knowledge of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism.
- A valid driver’s license and 6 months driving experience required.
- Reliable transportation with valid insurance, registration, and inspection.
- Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Pay
$17.75 per hour.
Schedule
- Full-time: 30+ hours per week, varied hours between 900 am - 100 pm or 100 pm- 700 pm, occasional weekends as needed.
- Part-time: Less than 20 hours per week, three days per week, varied hours between 900 am - 100 pm, occasional weekends as needed.
