H. S. MUSIC TEACHER with Theater Experience

Compensation: $50,000 - $62,000 yearly salary plus a $2,000 signing bonus.

About the role

Promotes and nurtures the education of students by working collaboratively with parents and fellow educators in planning and tailoring courses of study in music. Uses relevant data to monitor, assist with, and correct academic efforts, while providing a safe and conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instruction to ensure all students meet and exceed the State Music Standard in the three broad strands of Create, Relate, and Evaluate, emphasizing music education within the cultural context of the arts.
• Provide varied learning experiences so students demonstrate skills and concepts through performances, portfolios, and multiple communication mediums.
• Engage learners in differentiated experiences for a range of skill levels and developmental needs, managing multiple instructional activities when appropriate.
• Coordinate music instruction with other school teachers and assist in integrating music into the broader instructional program.
• Periodically review and recommend modifications to the music curriculum to align with Arizona Music Standards and Core Knowledge sequence.
• Plan and supervise three quarterly community celebrations alongside visual arts and physical education teachers.
• Provide opportunities for students to showcase skills and talents developed in the music program, occasionally outside normal work hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Instruct students in the proper and safe use of music equipment and materials.
• Prepare orders for music supplies and equipment within the approved budget and maintain an inventory of all materials.
• Maintain music equipment in safe working condition and recommend budget needs to the Principal or supervisor.
• Serve as a role model by cultivating personal musical talents and creating musical work.
• Mentor students with behavioral and/or academic difficulties.
• Organize and supervise approved field trips and community music events with the Paideia Family Center.
• Maintain classroom order by adhering to school-wide and classroom discipline guidelines, consulting professionals when needed.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy educational environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
• Address academic difficulties by counseling students and utilizing the school’s Response to Intervention (RTI) resources.
• Keep parents informed through records of music performance, attendance, and social acclimation, reporting at parent-teacher conferences.
• Provide student support services by monitoring halls, playgrounds, and lunchrooms, and sponsoring student organizations or activities.
• Stay updated on job knowledge by attending faculty meetings, participating in educational opportunities, and engaging in professional networks.
• Enhance the school’s reputation by accepting new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to the role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music.
• Teacher Certification and passing score on the AEPA in the content area.
• SEI Endorsement preferred.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Excellent experience teaching music to diverse students, unless entering through an alternative certification program.
• Experience teaching struggling students from diverse backgrounds.
• Working knowledge of Arizona state music standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high-stakes environment.
