Gynecologic Oncologist

About the role

This well-respected 5 physician and 4 APP practice is the premiere Gynecologic Oncology practice in the state of Maine and provides state of the art cancer care for gynecologic cancers including surgical care and chemotherapy services.

Responsibilities

  • Full working relationship with all cancer sub-specialties as a member of the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN), including a robust weekly tumor board with pathology, radiation oncology and medical oncology, and genetics.
  • Supports excellent support services providing comprehensive cancer care including nurse navigators, licensed clinical social workers and rehabilitation specialists.
  • Uses state of the art e-health tools including e-PROS and serial EHR based distress monitoring.
  • Works within the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center, which has 38 employed physicians and 4 non-employed independent medical groups totaling over 75 providers.
  • Participates in research and clinical trials as an NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) site and through NRG Oncology, GOG Foundation and industry sponsored trials.
  • Supports the MaineHealth Maine Medical Center (MH MMC) Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, founded in 1976, with 20 post-graduate trainees.

Requirements

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification/Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Extensive experience in full-scope management of gynecologic cancers, including minimally invasive surgery and chemotherapy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment in a large, dynamic health system.
  • Experience with clinical trials preferred.
  • Strong interest in education (UME/GME) with prior experience preferred.
