Gujarati Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Gujarati Interpreter for a remote position. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established protocols
• Speak clearly in both Gujarati and English using proper pronunciation and enunciation
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions
• Stay calm and handle sensitive topics like end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression
• Understand and adapt to various industries' terminology and procedures
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours
• Follow client instructions and maintain confidentiality
• Provide service within a dynamic environment, including extended call durations and high call volumes

Qualifications

• Fluency in Gujarati and English with cultural competency
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills
• Ability to remain detached and neutral during interpretation
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred
• Adaptability to LLS technology enhancements
• Age 18 or older
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write the requested languages preferred

Pay

$0.55 - $0.70 per minute

Schedule

This is a remote position where the Interpreter works from their home office. A quiet and secure environment is essential.

• Desktop/Laptop Computers with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS
• Tablets (iPadOS or Android)
• Smartphones (iOS or Android)
• Restricted brands: Kaspersky products, Huawei hardware
• High-speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps, upload speeds of 3 Mbps, Ping value of no more than 300 ms, and Jitter value of no more than 30 ms
• Access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction

Physical Requirements

• Able to operate a keyboard and mouse for the majority of the workday
• Sufficient manual dexterity to type or write
• Able to lift up to 26 lbs
• May be exposed to moderate noise levels
