About the Process

Power connectivity for a factory involves multiple steps and requires coordination with various agencies, including visits to division, sub-division, and regional offices. The process includes primary surveys, application submissions, fee payments, approvals, testing, and inspections by multiple authorities such as the Environment clearance, CIG office, and Chief Electrical Inspector.

Contractors may face challenges during construction due to local issues, interactions with agencies like PWD, forest department, municipalities, and road authorities.

Strategic Planning

From the outset, it is essential to understand and plan for the following requirements:

• Voltage and load requirements
• Initial load, future load increases, and ultimate phase load
• Factory location, route map, and city/state jurisdiction

10-Step Procedure (Example: 33KV)

• Preliminary Survey:

  Crucial for deciding voltage level, route alignment, identifying obstacles, understanding local procedures, and tracking the connectivity process.

• Application Submission:

  Submit a complete, accurate, and properly formatted application to the Division Office through the designated channel to enable fast-track processing.

• Survey by Subdivision:

  The Subdivision Office conducts a survey and submits the following documents: Survey Report, Voltage Regulation Report, Route Map, and Single Line Diagram (SLD).

• Processing Fee:

  Division Office issues a demand note. After payment, a Feasibility Report and Line Construction Estimation are prepared and sent to the Regional Office.

• Verification & Approval:

  Circle Office verifies, and Regional Office approves. The customer submits either supervision charges or the full estimation cost for construction.

• Permit & Construction:

  Circle Office issues a permit. The customer’s contractor then begins line construction as per terms and conditions.

• CEIG Approval:

  Contractor submits drawings to CEIG. After construction, line inspection is done, and test reports are submitted for charging permission.

• Metering Process:

  Division Office intimates the metering division to ready the metering unit after CEIG clearance.

• Security Deposit:

  Regional Office issues a demand note for the Security Deposit. Connectivity permission is released after a signed agreement.

• Charging:

  The final day is decided based on official availability. Metering and charging are performed on the same day.
