Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Affords appropriate designated duties in collaboration with and in the absence of the site administrator(s).
  • Assists the site administrator(s) in the organization, management, and administration of the school in the following areas:
    • Implementation of the school and District’s instructional program(s).
    • Determination of school and community needs as they relate to the instructional program.
    • Coordination of all auxiliary services within the school.
    • Supervision, counseling, and discipline of students.
    • Cordination of any additional school activities assigned by site administrator(s).
  • Affords assistance in establishing effective interpersonal relationships among the members of the school community, staff, and student body.
  • Affords assistance in communicating school and District goals, procedures, and objectives to the community, staff, and student body.
  • Affords assistance in obtaining the involvement of staff, students, parents, and community in establishing school goals.
  • Affords assistance in providing leadership and guidance in adjusting the school’s program and procedures to the requirements of the individual student’s needs.
  • Affords assistance in motivating good behavior and maintaining discipline.
  • Affords assistance in providing student guidance services as needed.
  • Affords maintenance of preventative discipline, attendance, guidance, and academic files as appropriate.
  • Screens Student Study Team referrals and initiates appropriate action as needed.
  • Affords assistance in the development, coordination, and supervision of student activities.
  • Affords assistance in conferring with student, parents, teachers, and agencies as needed.
  • Affords assistance in early intervention strategies for students with special needs.
  • Affords assistance in conducting informal and formal classroom observations of teachers.
  • Affords assistance in preparing and administering performance appraisals of classified and certificated staff.
  • Affords assistance in conducting key leadership projects including curriculum development, assessments, data analysis, personnel, budgets, and staff development.

Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge of organizational principles and practices.
  • Must have knowledge of laws, Board policies, rules, and regulations that pertain to student discipline, attendance, and transfers.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, principles, and practices.
  • Requires knowledge of appropriate grade level curricula, resources, and instructional practices.
  • Requires knowledge of appropriate classroom management strategies.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of State testing requirements and procedures.
  • Requires knowledge of guidance and counseling objectives, principles, and procedures.
  • Requires the ability to implement the school instructional program.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents, and the public contacted in the performance of duties.
  • Requires the ability to identify and determine the basic nature of students’ problems and needs, evaluate their relative urgency, and take action to alleviate the problems.
  • Must be able to supervise the work of subordinate personnel and develop and conduct appropriate staff development meetings.
  • Must be able to conduct informal and formal classroom observations of teachers.
  • Must be able to speak clearly to articulate a message to both small and large groups.
  • Requires the ability to write effectively to produce letters, documents, and newsletter articles.
  • Must be able to assist site and District administration in additional administrative duties related to key leadership projects.
  • Requires a Bachelors Degree and demonstrated leadership qualities and potential through participation in such activities as school management, student discipline, committee work, and/or special projects outside of the classroom.
  • Three years of successful public or private teaching experience and/or equivalent service is required.
  • A valid California K-12 teaching credential, a valid Administrative Services Credential, and a valid California Drivers License are required.
  • A Masters Degree is desired.
