Responsibilities
- Aid in student scheduling, placing them in appropriate classes based on academic and personal needs.
- Provide student support through counseling, mediation, and other strategies to improve academic, social, and emotional well-being.
- Facilitate student mediation sessions to resolve conflicts and maintain a positive school environment.
- Act as the STAT Coordinator to ensure students have access to the resources necessary for academic success.
- Support family mediation and engagement efforts, building strong partnerships between the school and families.
- Assist with coordinating field trips, ensuring smooth communication with families and staff.
- Support data management in the school’s Student Information System and assist staff in navigating the system.
- Lead staff professional development on SEL strategies, promoting a holistic approach to education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in counseling and education.
- Review Student Learning Profiles with teachers, families, and students to create personalized plans for student success.
- Conduct at least one parent conference annually with each family to discuss students' progress and address any concerns.
- Perform other duties as needed to meet the needs of students, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in School Counseling or related field required.
- Valid Florida School Counseling Certification required.
- Experience with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies and interventions required.
- Previous experience in a school counseling or student support role preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and mediation skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers, families, and students.
- Commitment to student-centered, equity-focused support.
