Guest Specialist, Film Desk
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and provide exceptional service specific to film screenings, festivals, premieres, and filmmaker Q&As.
- Manage theater entry, ticket scanning, standby lists, and audience flow to ensure efficient, timely seating and smooth crowd movement.
- Communicate clearly regarding seating availability, sold-out screenings, standby procedures, accessibility accommodations, and general theater policies.
- Aid the Film Desk manager in daily theater preparations, ticketing, schedules, guest lists, line control, and signage.
- Sell daily and advance Museum admission, film, and program tickets, memberships, and member guest passes.
- Conduct zip code surveys and collect other important visitor information for the Museum’s research and marketing initiatives.
- Process credit cards and coupons, ring up cash, and issue change.
- Proactively engage in membership sales efforts throughout the Museum, contributing to the Museum’s membership sales goals.
- Warmly welcome guests and assist with visit planning in the lobby and at various locations throughout the Museum.
- Resolve general complaints from guests and members on site.
- Stay informed about current and upcoming exhibitions, films, educational programs, and marketing campaigns.
- Attend the Morning Meeting at the beginning of every shift.
- Validate admission at points of entry to galleries.
- Maintain smooth flow of visitors by proactively guiding visitors to various queues and spaces.
- Help maintain organization, cleanliness, and preparedness with supplies and relevant materials at all posts including ticketing desks, scan podiums, and Lab spaces.
- Keep Museum information boxes filled with relevant printed information.
- Ensure proper signage placement.
- Draft routine correspondence in response to incoming mail and email from members and visitors.
- Update Membership database as necessary including address and name changes.
- Assist with Member events including member exhibition previews, member gallery talks, and other onsite programs.
- Assist with event RSVPs as needed.
- Report to management any issues of cleanliness or public safety in public spaces.
- Absorb information in daily notes and attend seasonal Membership marketing meetings to learn about upcoming promotions and efforts.
- Coordinate onsite promotion fulfillment.
- Resolve service escalations from Guest Assistants; alert Management if necessary.
- Frequently perform the functions of different positions within the Visitor Experience teams, specific to Membership (e.g., Guest Specialist), and Retail Stores (Sales Associate), as assigned by management based on business needs.
- Participate and complete all mandatory training.
- Perform any duties reasonably related to the functions described above.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Previous experience interacting with the general public and proficiency with languages in addition to English strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with using technology, including mobile devices, Google workspace, point of sale software.
- Exceptional customer service skills, customer service experience, passion for the arts.
- Must be available to work weekends and holiday periods.
- This position is in scope of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI) DSS), therefore, any offer of employment for this position will be contingent on the satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
Pay
This position pays $27.65 per hour.
