Overview

The Office of Events is a growing department at Utah State University, tasked with exceeding expectations for all events hosted by the university. Guest Services Representatives are needed to ensure a fun, exciting, and safe experience for patrons at various events. Positions are currently open and for the upcoming school year. The role is based on campus in Logan.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests to Utah State University in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Accurately perform access control of entry, including scanning or tearing tickets, identifying fraudulent tickets, and denying invalid credentials.
  • Enforce "prohibited item" rules and communicate the need for compliance to guests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of facility layout and traffic flow to provide accurate answers to guests and offer excellent customer service.
  • Assist guests with questions, comments, complaints, or suggestions. Follow up when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines and follow proper emergency management procedures.
  • Enforce individual event/venue rules and provide other services as required by the venue.
  • Provide overall outstanding customer service.

Qualifications

  • Three months experience with customer service is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and handle difficult situations with the public and guests in a calm and professional manner.

The position requires some physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects (20+ pounds). Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees must also be prepared to stand, walk, ascend, and descend stairs for most of their shift. Additionally, the work environment may include confined or narrow spaces. Employees may work outdoors, may not be protected from weather conditions or contaminants, and may be exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations.
