About the role
Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Guard. The Guard is in the Public Safety department. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Patrol campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to prevent unauthorized access, vandalism, and theft.
- Monitor and authorize entry of employees, students, visitors, and contractors to maintain campus security.
- Provide escort services as needed for students and employees in potentially unsafe situations.
- Respond to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
- Investigate security-related incidents, document findings, and report violations or suspicious activities.
- Aid in emergency situations, providing support to campus police and first responders when necessary.
- Complete and submit daily activity logs and incident reports.
- Monitor campus parking lots, issue citations for parking violations, and assist with traffic control during events.
- Provide directions and assistance to students, employees, and visitors regarding campus safety procedures.
- Act as a point of contact for students and staff needing security-related assistance.
- Support the BRCC Police Department in implementing safety initiatives and awareness programs.
- Affirm campus policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
Requirements
- No experience or training is required.
- Necessary Special Requirements: An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
- Applicants may be required to possess a current Louisiana driver's license.

Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with education and work experience.
Schedule
Probationary appointment with a one-year agency probationary period. Successful completion of this period is required before obtaining permanent status.
