Group Travel Team Leader (Long Island)

About the role

We are expanding our Group Travel business in the New York office and seeking an experienced group travel operations expert to establish and grow our presence in the USA. The role involves working closely with Commercial Jet brokers and other teams to source, manage, and book group travel enquiries while delivering outstanding customer service. This is a fast-paced opportunity for a proactive, driven individual to help cement our position in the group travel sector.

Responsibilities

• Leverage knowledge of the USA group travel market to set up access with major airlines for efficient quoting, booking, and management of group travel requests.
• Analyse operational gaps, identify improvement opportunities, and implement changes to enhance efficiency.
• Source leads externally and engage with referred large group private aviation clients to build a list of repeat travel customers.
• Demonstrate expert understanding of suitable group travel products and make tailored recommendations to customers.
• Manage group travel bookings from enquiry to completion, collaborating with other departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• Adopt a “Customer First” approach, taking full ownership of in-destination experiences, including working outside regular hours when necessary.
• Maintain relationships with repeat clients through proactive outbound sales calls, emails, and visits (both face-to-face and virtual).
• Engage with suppliers and partners to provide the most suitable options for customer requirements.
• Work towards exceeding daily, monthly, and annual productivity and financial targets while contributing to team goals.
• Follow company procedures methodically to protect both the business and clients.
• Operate effectively in a pressurised environment, making prompt, clear decisions that may involve tough choices or considered risks.
• Represent the business externally at industry events, supplier meetings, and customer engagements.
• Recruit and train new group consultants to support ongoing business growth.

Requirements

• Clear written and verbal communication skills with fluency in both written and spoken English.
• Extensive knowledge of major global destinations and travel products, with an up-to-date understanding of tourism trends.
• A high aptitude and passion for sales, ideally with a track record in a travel industry role.
• Organised and disciplined approach to workload and time management, balancing multiple priorities.
• Willingness to commit to role demands, including working outside regular hours when necessary.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams within and beyond The Travel Division.
• Enjoyment of working towards both individual and team goals in a friendly yet competitive environment.
• Previous experience with a GDS (ideally Amadeus) is desirable.
• Previous experience booking and managing groups within the travel industry is desirable.
