About the role
The Group Leader at The Child Center of NY is responsible for creating a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth after school hours. This position involves planning and facilitating engaging activities, supporting youth development, and maintaining positive relationships with participants, families, and school faculty.
Responsibilities
- Provide homework help and facilitate activities for youth.
- Develop and implement project-based lessons that are hands-on and engaging.
- Support the implementation of showcases and exhibits to share student work with families and other stakeholders.
- Maintain and organize activity supplies for program delivery.
- Absorb daily attendance and assist in data collection and participant documentation.
- Attend all necessary program meetings and related professional development opportunities.
- Assist activity specialists, tutors, and subcontractors in managing and documenting behavior and facilitating activities as needed.
- Implement positive behavior management systems, focusing on clear expectations, verbal acknowledgment, and systemic rewards for desired behaviors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum 2 years direct experience working with children.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, communicate with stakeholders, and manage competing tasks.
