About the Role
The Group Leader guides production employees in their daily work, facilitating, equipping, and supplying tools and equipment for assigned projects. This role helps resolve employee questions or issues and coordinates activities to maximize production flow.
Responsibilities
- Reviews schedules and leads production employees in their daily work for the assigned department.
- Interprets work orders and requirements for welding, painting, fabricating, and assembling.
- Coordinates tools, equipment, and supplies for employees to complete work.
- Investigates work performance issues and recommends and implements solutions within established policies.
- Coordinates activities between work groups.
- Recommends changes to improve methods, procedures, and equipment to increase production.
- Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing facility.
- Ability to document records accurately under tight timeframes.
- Ability to accurately demonstrate visual inspections for safety, equipment and processes, parts, and welding processes.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, including basic blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to work both alone and in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to receive and interpret information and communicate it accordingly.
- Ability to make quick, effective judgments to resolve problems or navigate challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent.
- 3 years of related experience, including knowledge of shop production methods and processes, and product and material specifications.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The work environment requires employees to work both inside and outside in varying conditions, including heat, cold, wet, humid, dry, arid, and dusty environments. Employees must use personal protective equipment as conditions dictate.
