About the role
The Milwaukee YMCA is hiring Before and After School Group Leaders for multiple locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of all School Age Education programming under the direction of the School Age Education Director.
- Serve as an instructor and role model to program participants.
- Engage families and school staff, while complying with licensing rules and procedures.
- Plan and implement high-quality programs, taking responsibility for each child’s safety and well-being.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience(s) working with children preferred.
- Must possess or attain within 90 days of hire the following certifications: CPR-Pro, AED, First Aid, Shaken Baby Certifications.
- At least 80 hours of Early Childhood classes with documentation OR completed at least 6 credits in elementary education, child guidance, or child development.
- Able to learn or have knowledge of state licensing for Group Child Care and Youngstar.
- Complete staff file requirements and documents within specified timeframe.

Essential Functions
- Make meaningful connections with program participants, families, and school personnel.
- Assist with planning and organizing School Age Education activities, family events.
- Arrive on time to site rested and well-prepared so as to maintain appropriate adult: child ratios.
- Recognize and solve individual and group conflicts effectively.
- Keep accurate daily attendance records.
- Maintain a professional, clean, neat, organized, and safe School Age atmosphere.
- Attend staff training, staff meetings, including required workshops or pre-School Age Education Trainings.
- Exhibit a positive and caring attitude with children, families, school staff, and Y staff.
- Balance School Age Education standards and expectations with flexibility.
- Understand and follow all state licensing and Youngstar requirements as listed in DCF standards.
- Maintain current certifications, staff file, and continuing education requirements per state licensing and YMCA policies.
