About the Role

A Group Lead is a working leader who performs tasks similar in nature and level to those of the employees they supervise. In addition to hands-on production work, the Group Lead assists the Production Manager with key business responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides work instruction and prioritizes tasks for their team to ensure quality, production objectives, and schedules are met.
  • Performs complex technician functions, including complex builds and troubleshooting with or without a build plan.
  • Coordinates and monitors the workload and flow of all technicians to maintain efficiency, quality, safety, and housekeeping standards; serves as a backup for all functions in the work area.
  • Trains employees on company work methods, processing procedures, and skills development.
  • Serves as the first level of technical escalation for area technicians and resolves production process issues.
  • Escalates issues and problems to management or appropriate support groups as necessary.
  • Prepares, builds, tests, packages, and delivers products.
  • Assists with skill assessment during the hiring process and administers the performance assessment process.
  • Supports new process development within the organization.
  • Assembles, repairs, reworks, or calibrates units, subassemblies, or components to meet operational specifications or tolerances.
  • Conducts tests and inspections of products and processes to evaluate quality, performance, and compliance with specifications.
  • Reads test schedules, work orders, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, or schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment.
  • Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions (e.g., pressure, force, temperature change, vibration, humidity).
  • Trims and prepares components (e.g., wire cables, connectors, resistors) using solder and adhesives as specified by prints and procedural documents.
  • Uses equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, leak detection/vacuum systems, pressure generators, voltmeters, ohmmeters, ovens, soldering equipment, microscopes, and precision hand tools.
  • Performs or inspects component replacement and rework on units, subassemblies, and repair/exchange assemblies.
  • Reads and works from drawings, blueprints, schematics, work orders, wiring diagrams, and written instructions with limited supervision to assemble, rework, or reassemble units.
  • Connects electronic components, subassemblies, or parts to test instruments (e.g., ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, or automated test equipment) and activates test equipment.
  • Reads instrument dials, scopes, or viewing screens to evaluate resistance, capacitance, continuity, wave patterns, or defects (e.g., short circuits or current leakage).
  • Confers with engineers, technicians, value stream leaders, and others to resolve testing procedures and results.
  • Examines components, subassemblies, or parts for defects and records type and quantity of defects.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots test results on defective units to determine the cause of failure.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electronic component parts to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Explains assembly testing procedures or techniques to other workers as needed.
  • Maintains employee records and administers disciplinary measures with approval from the Production Manager, Plant Manager, or Human Resources Business Partner.
  • Fosters good employee morale through effective dialogue and handles employee complaints.
  • Maintains labor and production records as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Knowledge of quality standards and ESD-safe procedures.
  • Ability to read and work from drawings, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to use a variety of equipment, including but not limited to power supplies, multimeters, leak detection/vacuum systems, pressure generators, voltmeters, ohmmeters, ovens, soldering equipment, microscopes, and precision hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to report job status to all levels of supervision.
  • Equipment selection skills to determine the tools and equipment needed for a job.
  • Finger dexterity for precisely coordinated movements to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Instructing skills to teach others how to perform tasks.
  • Manual dexterity for quick hand movements to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Near vision to see details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Knowledge of production and processing, including raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing efficiency.
  • Quality control analysis skills to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes.
  • Reading comprehension to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Repairing skills to fix machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Troubleshooting skills to determine causes of operating errors and decide on solutions.

Pay

$26 - $29 per hour for entry-level positions.
