Group Instructor - Fitness
Two brands. One team. ROVA Health combines over a century of Westfield Health Group heritage with a belief that the way people live, work, and recover has fundamentally changed. This is a platform with purpose, built by people who care about getting it right.
About the role
As our Group Instructor, you'll lead the group exercise programme at our Central London site. You'll shape a timetable that meets member demand, teach 8–10 classes each week, and build a team of freelance instructors. You'll manage budgets, hold standards, and adapt the offer as utilisation shifts—navigating the unknown to make it look effortless.
Location: Central London, UK
Language Requirements: Fluent English
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours)
Responsibilities
- Own the group exercise timetable, building a balanced, commercially effective offer that matches real member demand.
- Deliver 8–10 classes yourself each week, setting the standard for delivery, safety, and energy.
- Manage the instructor cost budget and hit budgeted class revenue targets.
- Recruit, support, and performance-manage freelance instructors, ensuring every class reflects our brand.
- Process instructor payroll accurately and on time, with all class submissions correctly tracked.
- Keep studio spaces, equipment, and delivery standards audit-ready, and run regular quality checks.
- Report on attendance, utilisation, and instructor performance, using the data to drive improvements.
- Ensure every class and instructor meets health & safety and compliance requirements, without exception.
Requirements
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification. Spin, Yoga, or Reformer/Mat Pilates certification is a strong bonus.
- Real experience in fitness, wellbeing, or another service-led environment.
- A strong track record teaching a range of group exercise classes, and the presence to hold a room.
- Commercial awareness; you understand budgets, and how the numbers translate into decisions on the studio floor.
- Sharp organisational and planning skills, with the ability to build a timetable that works for members and instructors.
- Confident, adaptable communication, whether briefing an instructor or presenting performance data to senior management.
- A genuinely customer-first mindset; you build trust because you mean it, not because it's scripted.
- Comfort with change: you spot what isn't working, and you don't wait to be told to fix it.
