As an employee of the Miles Nadal JCC, the Group Fitness Instructor reports to the Program Manager, Member Experience, Fitness & Wellness.
About the role
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality, motivating group fitness training. They will develop and deliver engaging fitness class programming for members and play a customer service role in helping members achieve their fitness goals through education and training in a fitness centre setting.
Classes may include: Cardio, Strength/Barbell, TRX, Zumba, Cycle, Barre, Pilates, Yoga, Essentrics, and Aquafit.
Schedule
1 to 4 classes per week.
Responsibilities
- Create and instruct safe, comprehensive, and energetic workouts tailored to members' abilities.
- Provide instruction, guidance, and demonstration of safe exercise techniques and use of fitness equipment.
- Foster a fun and welcoming environment for all members.
- Tidy and clean fitness equipment after use.
- Educate clients on fitness studio etiquette and sign-up procedures.
- Represent the fitness staff in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Greet members, engage in conversation, answer questions, and assist with general inquiries.
- Build and sustain relationships with new and existing MNjcc members.
- Respond to and assist with on-site emergencies, incidents, and accidents, which may include providing Standard First Aid, CPR, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and completing accident/incident reports when required.
- Attend training, workshops, meetings, and seminars as required.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce MNjcc Policies and Procedures for all staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A current, nationally accredited group fitness certification (CSEP, CanFitPro, CPTN, ACSM, NSCA, ACE, or equivalent accredited institution).
- A solid understanding of physical fitness training principles, body movement patterns, and the technical aspects of strength and cardiovascular training.
- A current CPR-C certification.
- A Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 (or valid accommodation) is required to work in-person at the MNjcc.
