Group Fitness Instructor – Step Aerobics (Part-time)

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in a variety of fitness activities and formats.
• Ensure members’ needs are met through personal recognition and by providing quality service.
• Maintain the well-being of all participants throughout the exercise program.
• Assume a leadership role as a professional in the area of fitness and wellness.
• Encourage participants to continue with exercises and make healthy choices.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for exercising.
• Enforce all fitness facility policies, rules and regulations.
• Assist in the cleaning and general maintenance of fitness areas.
• Arrive well-prepared: music cued, routine thought out, ample time for setup and to greet participants prior to start of class.

Requirements

• Group exercise certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA or equivalent) required.
• Format-specific certifications and First Aid, CPR and AED certifications required.
• Experience teaching group fitness classes required, specifically step aerobics.
• Experience teaching a variety of group fitness classes is preferred.
• Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment.
• Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, background check, work verification.
