About the role
The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) seeks skilled and certified fitness professionals to teach specialty fitness classes in a variety of formats such as adapted fitness, aqua fitness, barre cardio, boxing/kickboxing, cycling/spin, step, pilates, senior fitness, strength conditioning, trx yoga, and dance-based fitness.
Responsibilities
- Teach safe and dynamic fitness classes that are focused, individualized, refined, and creatively designed outside of normal group fitness formats.
- Ensure that patrons perform exercises in an accurate and safe manner.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public.
- Facilitate recreation facility tours and maintain and update client membership information.
- Maintain and prepare equipment and facility and maintain related records.
- Organize and conduct lesson and activity plans for assigned classes, monitor equipment condition, and maintain program safety.
- Enforce program and facility rules; provide emergency care and treatment as required.
Requirements
- Professional Fitness certification and CPR/First Aid certifications required.
- Minimum of 12 months of related experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- May require a State/Federal background check.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/Equivalent or higher.
- Quantify your experience instructing a group fitness class, including in-person and virtual instruction.
- Group fitness formats you are capable of teaching.
- Nationally recognized Group Fitness certifications.
- Membership in any professional fitness organization/association.
- Preferred worksite location.
Skills
