Group Fitness Instructor (for active older adults)

Essential Functions

  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Integrate the mission of the YMCA and follow the core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility into the healthy living aspect of all classes.
  • Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group fitness classes for older active adults.
  • Maintain working knowledge of industry and wellness trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Build effective and authentic relationships with members to assist them in connecting with each other and the YMCA.
  • Promotes programs, classes and services to all members and encourages cross training and fun activity to attain individual health and wellness goals.
  • Help maintain a safe, organized and clean, class area.

Qualifications

  • Professional certification and ongoing required training to maintain certification through a nationally recognized organization or equivalent for classes being taught.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of DOH.
  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Physical Requirements

    • Ability to physically perform all physical motions of the exercise being led.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
    • Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
    • Pay

      Compensation is commensurate with experience.

      Schedule

      This is a part time role where just a few hours a week may be all you work.
