Primary Purpose Of Position
Lead and provide group exercise program instruction through effective verbal and physical demonstration to promote physical wellness.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Create safe and effective group exercise routines/sequences.
- Articulate clear instructions verbally.
- Demonstrate physically the correct form/posture being taught.
- Offers feedback regarding proper form using any equipment or props.
- Is capable of receiving feedback; applies feedback to improve performance.
- Consistently at work and on time and prepared to instruct with all props or equipment ready.
- Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
- Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Completes administrative tasks correctly and timely.
- Adapts to changes in the work environment.
- Follows instructions and protocols; responds to management direction; supports organizations goals and values.
- Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
Education/Experience
- Nationally recognized group fitness certification.
- A minimum 1 year of group fitness instructor experience.
Special Skills/Equipment
- Personable and welcoming attitude to all members and guests in facility.
- Knowledge of the fitness industry and fitness equipment.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Able to communicate via email in a timely manner.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Maintain good physical fitness, able to lift at least 25 pounds and move boxes above shoulder level and must be able to stand for substantial periods of time working at the front desk, walking the facility and/or doing physical inventory.
- Visual acuity and hearing to recognize emergency situations and take effective courses of action.
- The employee is frequently required to walk, reach, push and pull with hands, arms and legs; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities are required by this job include depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
