Group Fitness Instructor

About the role

Teaches sport activities and/or classes in a group setting at a YMCA recreational facility in keeping with generally accepted industry standards for safety and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Teach sport activities and/or classes in a group setting
• Ensure adherence to YMCA safety standards
• Engage participants in fun, safe, and effective physical activities
• Adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse participants
• Communicate effectively with participants and staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of varying ages and abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for promoting health and wellness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Effective teaching and coaching skills
• Knowledge of sports and fitness activities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing circumstances
• Good organizational and time management skills

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hours vary based on facility needs and may include evenings and weekends.
