Group Fitness and Programming Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a Group Fitness and Programming Manager to lead daily operations of the programming teams (Physical Activity, Group Fitness, Recreation, Pilates), including scheduling, supervision, training, and workflow coordination at a high-profile company’s fitness center located in downtown Manhattan, New York.
- Develop innovative, cost-effective programming by creating monthly challenges and wellness initiatives, tracking trends, maintaining industry partnerships, and recommending improvements.
- Coordinate staff responsibilities for monthly challenges, campaigns, pop-up events, expos, and special initiatives.
- Oversee recreational activities, tournaments, and team-building schedules within the fitness center.
- Provide cross-functional training and orientations for new hires across fitness, reception, group exercise, and programming teams.
- Ensure all fitness and group fitness programs meet operational standards, align with client and Workplace Well-being culture, and maintain high-quality instruction, participant experience, and studio conditions.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the client’s Wellness Team, integrating and cross-promoting initiatives across wellness vendors.
- Assist the General Manager with marketing and communications, including schedules, promotions, signage, and digital content.
- Provide regular updates to the General Manager on budget performance, staffing needs, and operational priorities, and participate in weekly staff and management team meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum three years of experience in a fitness center that has close interactions with members and guests.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
- Must be knowledgeable about the industry with the customer skills to network, engage, and interact with all clients, guests, and participants.
- Ability to effectively engage participants as a public speaker.
- Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Pay
For residents of California, Colorado, New York City, and Washington only: The annual salary for this position ranges from $66,300 to $72,800. Pay is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, certifications, geographic differentials, and other business and organizational needs. In addition to the hourly rate, Plus One offers a comprehensive benefits package (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements), which includes health insurance, life and disability benefits, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
