About the Club
Westwood Country Club was founded in 1954 and is a member-owned, full-service, family-oriented club providing outstanding recreational, dining, and social opportunities. The 157-acre property features an elegantly appointed clubhouse, an 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a fitness center, and a swimming facility. Located on Maple Avenue near Tyson’s Corner, the new Fitness Center includes a welcoming lobby with limited retail, a large multi-functional group instruction room, a yoga room, a spin studio, and 6,000 square feet of brand-new cardio and strength equipment from Life Fitness.
Responsibilities
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled class time.
- Teach scheduled classes that begin and end on time, including warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool-down.
- Instruct class members on effective workout methods, proper techniques, muscle groups, and strength-building exercises.
- Prepare appropriate equipment and music for each class.
- Assist class members, answer questions, and maintain a positive exercise experience.
- Keep management informed of customer and facility needs.
- Ensure safety standards are met and follow department and facility policies.
- Motivate class members while demonstrating a caring attitude and providing constructive feedback.
- Know and perform required roles in emergency situations.
Requirements
- Certification from a nationally recognized body such as ACSM, NSCA, ACE, or AFAA (other certifications may be considered).
- Current CPR and AED certification through the American Red Cross.
- Health- and fitness-focused undergraduate degree in Physical Education with coursework in nutrition, exercise physiology, or kinesiology preferred.
- One year of experience as a personal trainer or Group Exercise Instructor at a commercial gym, fitness franchise, or private club.
Physical Demands
- Noise level in the exercise studio is loud during class sessions.
- Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance, and crouch.
