Group Exercise Instructor

About the role

The Parks and Recreation department seeks a professional to instruct group exercise programs for the community. The position requires a National group exercise certification and at least one year of experience in the fitness/aerobics field.

Responsibilities

• Designs and instructs group exercise programs
• Prepares and brings music playlists for group exercise classes
• Setups and breaks down equipment for each class
• Promotes the group exercise program and encourages participation
• Assists in the development of fitness and wellness activities
• Performs cleaning/maintenance tasks in the group exercise studio

Requirements

• Valid Florida driver’s license, class E
• CPR and AED certification

Qualifications

• National group exercise certification from an accredited institution
• At least one year of experience in the fitness/aerobics field

Skills

• Organize work for timely completion
• Instruct a group exercise class on beat and phrase with music
• Cue participants at least four beats before transitions
• Provide alternative/modified exercises
• Motivate and inspire participants
• Communicate and understand information in English
• Work with minimal supervision
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Attend work and arrive punctually
