Groundwater Purge Water Management Specialist – Los Alamos, NM

About the role

Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a subcontractor supporting the N3B Los Alamos LLC team at the U.S. Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Groundwater Purge Water Management Specialist will support the management of groundwater monitoring purge water.

Responsibilities

• Update the EIMS waste inventory with purge water generated on a daily basis
• Perform waste site inspections/audits, assessments of operations and facilities associated with groundwater sampling, and recommend appropriate action to ensure compliance with regulations
• Administer internal audits and support external regulatory audits
• Plan and execute characterization sampling as needed
• Provide the required information to be entered into Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Waste Compliance and Tracking System (WCATS), or equivalent
• Interface, as necessary, with all levels of the client’s Waste Management Team
• Maintain and update a groundwater sampling program waste inventory spreadsheet
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge
• Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents or concerns
• Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

• BS in an engineering or environmental science field required
• Working knowledge of existing DOE waste management software such as WCATS or IWTS preferred
• Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to waste management, including RCRA, EPA, DOT, and DOE
• Ability to understand and adhere to Los Alamos National Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance specific to the waste management of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions
• U.S. Citizen

Qualifications

• Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to author and present technical documents, test plans, project documentation, and training to a wide variety of audiences
• Ability to communicate and interface successfully and professionally with personnel from various organizations
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Skills

• Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle and feel/reach with hands and arms
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Close vision and distance vision

Benefits

Commensurate with experience.

Pay

$75,000 - $85,000 annually

Varies based on groundwater sampling activities.
